We found out today my wife’s cousin tested positive. She got it from a coworker in her office.
She said in her case it’s more like a bad cold as opposed to the flu. She has no stomach problems or diarrhea. Just a very runny nose,aching, congestion. She’s in her mid 30’s. FWIW

It can go both ways - a guy on another car web board reported he's recovering now, but had to spend time in the hospital on a ventilator. It was pretty rough for him.

We have, at last count I saw, 47 cases here in New Castle County. I don't know anyone around me that has it. I have a cough but that's due to my sinuses draining.... long before this crap hit. At lot of businesses are partially closed, takeout only for restaurants, Casinos and movie theaters are all closed, no schools opens, and only a fraction or the usual traffic is out on the highways. Grocery stores are open. The 2 Malls here are only open from 12pm to 7pm.

Even I-95 is quieter than normal. What gets me tho is no commercial traffic is allowed out on the NJ Turnpike from 8pm to 5am. Now that affects deliveries to NY and all up a down the East Coast. Oh.. no human toll collectors working but they're taking license plate photos and sending drivers the bill for those that don't have Easy-Pass. Because of that the Ports are backed up like you would believe. And they're letting the ship's untested crews off the boats to wander around.

And with all that.... it sure is quiet around here. I head out every morning for coffee at our local Wawa down the street. They pour and fix our coffee for us as we want it and hand it to us.

What I don't get is everyone is taking cash but they don't sanitize the money... bills and change. That's is the dirtiest thing out there that can and is probably spreading this damn virus. And yes... everyone I've seen working is wearing rubber gloves.

Everyone take care and use your heads on what you do. Charlie, you and the wife take care. I'm crossing my fingers and saying a prayer that those that have it recover. It's the 65 and up crowd with respiratory problems that are at risk. But the younger crowd is too. I heard there's even a 1 month old baby that has it somewhere around here.

Huge numbers of people will need it. But it doesn't make sense to blindly send money to all U.S. citizens (or all households, or whatever). I'm sure my wife and I aren't the only retirees who don't need it. I don't have a recommendation, since Washington would take so long to implement a more sensible plan. If the "payout" does occur, I don't know what people like me should do- we're not naive enough to think that sending it back would do anybody any good.

I'd guess most people making less than $35K a year are living at best month to month, they are ones that are going to need it. I know of ton of "kids" in the service industry in our town, mostly in their 20's ... some with kids .... they don't get a paycheck for a month they are going to have a hard time eating.

Should be easy to figure out, you make less than say $40K a year, and you were working before this happened, you get the check. If you are still working no check.

So far in our town residential and business landlords are not reducing rents a dime. The Tavern where I work part time, the rent is $9,000 a month, and the place got shut down last week for who knows how long. A few months of that and it will never open again, after 40 years in business.

If and when this comes to fruition, and you really dont need it, maybe look into a local charity or church that could put it to good use and help someone that may be in need.

I still see a lot of what I would call fear mongering for profit in the media. 95% of the information is presented in a negative, fear inducing way. How often do you see a story about how the majority of people recover with no more (or even less) symptoms than the average flu? Almost never.

And the epidemiologists say as much as 33% of the people who contract it never show ANY symptoms .... does the news report that? Yes they do, what do they call these people "Silent Carriers" a title purposely chosen to increase people's fear ..... Does anyone classify the same group of people every year with the normal flu that are asymptomatic as "silent carriers" no ... they are just people that don't get the flu.

I'm seeing the balance change to the point where the "cure" is going to cause more damage and despair for more years than the virus ever would have.

There is a local area Facebook page for events and stuff. Hot thread topic is this and related info, of course. The immediately impacted (young, families, etc) are already under duress, both parents unemployed, from the posts there. Between that and people I know personally, the people that could use it more will be pretty evident to me. Like you, I don't "need" it. So plan is to funnel it to deserving folk, probably in $200 chunks, so it has a tangible impact, for a handful, anyway.

Have two friends here with it, stuck in a motel to avoid family. Local hospital had a physician with it, 16 patient contact, and 9 staff, awaiting test results. It breached those walls right out of the chute.

I think I had it in January. I had an 8-10 day severe "flu" that had all symptoms, in stages or waves. Fever, chills, very weak, stomach, but then it went lungs, unlike anything I ever had. I have had pneumonia in the past with heavy chest congestion. This stuff was different, painful and felt like needles in my lungs. It freaked me out. About day 7, I was at point of heading to hospital, as felt I was not getting enough oxygen in my lungs. But next morning I felt tide turning and rode it out 2-3 more days, felt like cr@ap for a week after. Virus was just down interstate in WA in Jan, so it is logically possible I had it.

Makes sense for the death rate to go down as the number of potential people that could get COVID-19 goes down. Oldest, weakest, sickly, etc., are going to be the first to go. As that number decreases...So does the death rate.

The 2019 virus spread will climb all the same. Those healthy enough to not get or survive the COVID-19 will still be around to talk about it.

Avoid the new virus and you don't have to worry about the secondary lung infection.

Un-published and un-known stats for virus cases far exceeds the number of confirmed CV-19 cases.

Humans come first - I get that completely.

However spare a thought for your local animal shelters. My wife manages our largest shelter here - they are a non-profit that receive 100% of their funding through community events and sponsorship. They've been forced to cancel a couple of their largest fundraising events and donations have almost dried up completely.

We are in PA so non-essential businesses have closed by order of the governor, but the shelter animals still need their kennels and cages cleaned and dog walking and medical treatments have to go on. A lot of the staff are donating their time, but most of them live week to week, so it's rough for them as well.

I really hope things start to return to normal sooner than later, not just for the people in our area, but the animals that rely on them.

Indiana was placed under a "shelter in place" order this afternoon by Gov. Holcomb that is very similar to the orders in place in OH and IL. It is in effect until 07 April. Checked in with my cousin, Ray(86 years old), to see if he and his wife needed anything. His cancer docs(Ray has lymphoma and has for years) told him to stay in period. In the local tri-county area(Clark, Floyd and Harrison) we have a total of 11 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The bulk of cases here in the Hoosier State are in Indy and its surrounding counties. Marion Co. (where Indy is located) had 111 confirmed cases as of this morning. Vanderburg Co. (Evansville...third largest city in the state) has ONE. Allen Co. (Fort Wayne....second largest city in the state) has two. There are several counties with zero cases.
