No black top as far as I know Paul. Tho it doesn't mean it didn't have a vinyl roof. I've never done the PHS... I is too scared to find out how bad the guy before me screwed it up.... seeing he lied about a few things it should have had. I'm finding out it didn't come with the console, and found out the hard way there's no posi in it.
Have you spun the tires yet to see if your has a posi unit?

Yeah, Bill's two Goats are beautiful. Yours ain't no slouch either Paul.... it's gorgeous. But I'm predjudice because of the color.
When you do the waterpump and t-stat housing Paul, use Permatex 222071 Water Pump and T-Stat Housing RTV. It's a sa silver color and the tube it's in is silver with blue writing on it. Works great. I use it, and I've had no problems with leaks or seepage.

If you jack up the rear axle and put the car in neutral, turn one of the rear wheels, the other should turn in the same direction if it's a posi. It'll turn in the opposite direction if it's open.

PHS would/should have the Limited Slip/Safe-T-Track listed.
But to be sure you could open up the diff/case. For the cost of a gasket I would open the case just to check everything anyways. Besides fresh gear lube wouldn't hurt.

Thank you. Since it's cold outside, I like George's idea better.

Paul, when you do open up the rear case, add Valvoline's 85W-140 HPO Gear Oil with the Limited Slip additive in it. Works like a charm. I have it in my 2000 Jeep GC's posi rear and it cured the rearend noise. It's thick but does the trick.

Correct me if I`m wrong. The front drums were painted red if you ordered red plastic inner fenders and Rally I for 1967 GTO.A very rare option.

'66 is/was the ONLY year to get the Red Drums with Rally One rims.
I have never seen anything that would support this detail with the Red Liners so I will say that is a NO as well. It may have been a '66 with R1 & liners that your thinking. Several '67's on the web with red liners and none show red drums.

I have read somewhere, maybe "The Legend" that '66s with rally ones only came with red painted drums if they had the aluminum brake drum option. I have no idea if this is correct or not. I am running red drums behind my rally ones with steel drums & I'm not 100% sure that it's correct. Anyone heard about this? Jerry.

What brand and temp of the red paint for the drums? I might do mine that way instead of black, but keep the Cragars I have on the car now.

Gary, I've done two sets of drums, one I painted with red engine paint & the other set I had powder coated. I'm about to do a set for my Son's car & I'm going to have them powder coated too. The color my powder coating guy used was called ruby red. Jerry.

From the 1966 Performance Catalog...
FWIW;
Clearly stated Red Drums with Rally One's; Shown in red but not stated as how it comes, one can only assume

Hey Jeff. Maybe the picture of the red aluminum brake drum is the reason that someone thought only the aluminum drum optioned cars came that way. Jerry.

Paul, don't worry about what options it didn't come with or doesn't have. Mine is kind of like yours I'm finding out. From what I can see mine only had the rear speaker and reverb from the factory. That I know as the reverb is still under the rear package tray, but the rear speaker and switches are long gone. Console was added as were the front Deluxe seatbelts. I've added things I wanted that were in my 1st 66 GTO I bought back in 1970. Like we all tell each other... It's your car now, so add what you want to personalise it. Or, take out what you don't like or want.
As for your 3.23 rear. That is a good thing, especially for highway travel even if you add a 4bbl carb. I have a Weber made Carter 650 AFB Competition Series carb with an electric choke for a 66 that I could sell. Just to scare you... it's in really great shape but it's not cheap. It's a good alternative to an original and expensive Carter 4bbl. Only big difference other than the maker is the fuel line attaches to the passenger side of the carb.

Red drums only in '66. That said, I used Rustoleum Red on my '67 back in '11, and the drums still look great.
