Default Pontiac Heaven weekend 2015

The 17th annual Pontiac Heaven will be held at Wild Horse Pass Raceway Park in the Phoenix area. This is an NHRA national event track formerly called Firebird. The area is very tourist friendly with much to do in the immediate area. Moving Pontiac Heaven to Wild Horse Pass now makes it a Pontiac event destination like no other. Things to do like- gaming, a beautiful casino right across the street, dining- anything from a food court to 5 star dining- something for everyone. Also, there are 2 golf courses, horseback riding, almost unlimited shopping, Rawhide 1880's tour town and more. It is the place to be next spring.
Our 2015 dates are April 18-20

Much more info coming. check website www.pontiacheaven.org
Here is an early version of the flyer.

Another exciting part of Pontiac Heaven weekend is the Great Nostalgia action at Sunday's Phoenix Drag Reunion.
Sunday will have another car show open to all 1981 and older as well as nostalgia drag racing and exhibitions. This gives the participants and spectators a chance to see our Pontiacs go up against other brands both on the Championship NHRA national event drag strip as well as on the grass over looking Firebird lake in the car show! Firebird lake is where 250mph drag boats race a few times a year!
2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the altered wheelbase Funny Cars and it all happened right here in the Phoenix area at the Beeline AHRA Winternationals! We will be paying special tribute to these cars. I'll have my altered wheelbase supercharged '65 Tempest funny car on display and Glenn Gibbons' "Pouncin' Poncho" injected 421 altered wheelbase '64 Lemans will be making crowd pleasing passes.

We will also have as a special guest non other than The Georgia Shaker himself, Mr Hubert Platt who ran cars in this period.

In addition, below is an early promotional card of the event showing a Pontiac powered Top Fueler running in Phoenix at Mel Larson's Arizona Raceway. This track was later called "Speedworld" and was the home of Pontiac Heaven for 12 years until it closed.
This rare blown Pontiac nitro burner was actually located and purchased and is now in my collection and under restoration! We plan to debut the car at Pontiac Heaven weekend with the original builder, driver and crew. The car is the Turk/Cox/Braswell Fueler! Finding a real deal Pontiac powered nitro burner is rare indeed. This car was built in 1962 at the height of the Super Duty racing era and set many track records and won many races.

Pontiac Heaven weekend offers more things to do the the entire family than any other Pontiac event! There will also be a 2 day automotive swap meet on the grounds. Plus, right in the immediate area- casino gaming, horseback riding, Rawhide 1880's town, Golf, almost unlimited shopping, collector salvage yard tours and more to be announced. Make plans to attend April 18-20.
If interested in being an event sponsor and/or vendor, contact me direct 480-899-7873 calls only or email steve@pontiacheaven.org

See it here in Phoenix April 18-20, 2015
There is now a page on my website showing pictures of the car and showing the progress of the restoration. It will be a fine addition to the Pontiac Heaven museum.

Ellen and I will be there with our Tempest. I'll be hoping I can lower my ET's down to 7.80 or so. We'll see. Anyway, it'll be fun trying and we're really looking forward to it. The weather should be super.

Last year bike fest was going on at the same time across the street, very much enjoyed seeing Van Halen live. It's to bad you guys couldn't have kept those dates coordinated, I had a great time.

I wonder if many would want to see an AUTO CROSS course there - parking lot size - as put on at the Good Guys Car Shows across the country.

I emailed Steve to see if that is even a possibility ever. There are several Pontiac guys in town into it, so I think it would be neat to have at this all Pontiac event.

Everyone can participate and it is always super fun to watch.

Our 2 host hotels are now listed on the Pontiac Heaven event page site as well as other updates. here is a direct link to the page http://www.pontiacheaven.org/2015_PH.html

Registration is open. You can copy/paste/print the registration form off of the event web page and mail it to me.

There are special "Pontiac Heaven" rates. The Marriott offers shuttle service to and from the track as well as trailer parking.
On the autocross, I would be interested in adding this. we tried it 5 years or so back and not much interest. If group wants to do this, I think I can add this to the event. we would need supplies and staffing and timing equip but, I would try.

If there is a group of people who want to do this with Real Pontiac power, have each of them call or email me direct and we can discuss while there is still time

Work is also progressing on the Turk/Cox/Braswell Pontiac Fueler. We will display the car for the first time at Pontiac Heaven weekend.

thank you
Steve

The Phoenix airport (Sky Harbor) is very close by (15 minutes max).

Check with the host hotels. I'll bet one or both have airport shuttles.
