Default PUI vs. Legendary 78-81 standard door panel comparison

I ordered a pair of PUI door panels from a vendor; I liked the Legendary panels I saw at SEMA last year but they were having issues producing them. They finally got them in production this Fall and I ordered a set. My neighbor across the street has a 76 TA with no panels so he wants the set I have extra - giving me a unique opportunity to examine them face to face.

vvv Legendary on left, PUI on the right. Note how the radius is smoother with the Legendary piece. Also, PUI does not staple the fold over while Legendary does.

vvv Legendary. Sharper, more definition and flatter panel. Board is stiffer, PUI is warped new and kindy floppy. Note the bootom edges of the panels - that is not a photography issue; the PUI piece is rather uneven

vvv PUI panel is somewhat puffier, seems to match the OEM horsecollar seats better

vvv PUI backer; steel manufacture. panel has serrated cutouts.

vvv Legendary steel; offset is sharper, indicating higher stamping pressure. Seems to mount correctly while the PUI piece rocks a bit. Crank, handle, mount holes are cut out in board.

There is about a $100 dollars difference between the two preassembled sets. Unless cash is a huge issue or you run a used car lot, go with the Legendary set.

Nice review and comparison of the two. I'm sure it will help anyone else trying to decide between the two reproductions.

I know the PUI panels I used on the 81 had the clip holes on the ends way off from factory panels. How are the placements of those on the Legendary?

Does Legendary have plans to produce the deluxe panels for the '79-'81 interiors?

You would have to ask them. One thing they do not do well is deliver on time.
