He's had it for sale for two years, it's funny it hasn't sold yet.

Don't suppose the $20k asking price has anything to do with it . . .

Honestly, there is $50k of work to do on the car, and even as rare as it is, I can't see it being more than $5k in current condition.

He was asking 17K, you might expect there is some wiggle room...

Said 15K right on the ad heading. By this late in the game it should have a more modern LS drivetrain or even a complete chassis with modern braking and suspension from a Tahoe or whatever wheelbase is close.

Yep - I was going by his first post pricing. It's till $10k over-priced. But I guess if I really did have more money than brains I would offer him $8k and see what happened.

Always loved these. There’s a very nice one, a ‘56 IIRC, near me. All done, 2 owner car. Anyone know if there’s a Safari specific group or registry for Safaris? I’m looking for one that was in NY State about 7-8 years ago and was sold.

At only $5K it would have been turned into a Nomad faster than you can say Chevrolet.

There's another philosphical approach to value on such things that outweigh the ACV, whether before, during or after the build.

1) do you want the thing
2) do you have the asked price
3) buy it

Frankly, 5 or 10k over today's value won't mean crap after 10+ years of enjoying the thing.

Agreed - you can make more $$. They ain't makin' more of these Safaris.

Market decides price, not the seller. If it was priced at or near market value, it would no longer be for sale. Perhaps my view is off, but that just means this car does not have the same value to me as it does to someone else. It's all good.

People tend to think prices are too high when they're looking to buy, and prices are too low when they're looking to sell.

The question is, where are you going to find a 1957 Safari in restorable condition for less than the $15k asking price of this one? It's not like there's one for sale on every street corner. Who knows, you may be able to get it for less than that.
