Default Fan Shroud for 62 Catalina

I am looking for a fan shroud for a 62 Catalina or any full size Pontiac. They were factory equipped on AC cars and Police and Taxi packages. I don't think any other models had them. I am also under the impression they are a 1 year part for fitment. But I have read on here that a 63 shroud will fit with minor modifications. Looking for one that is in good condition and not rusted through needing a bunch of body filler. Let me know what you have . Thank you.

Found some additional info on the shroud. It looks like a 63/64 will fit with easy modification. So any shroud in good condition 61-64 will be fine. Thanks

I looked at my 1961 parts book and there were actually three different part numbers listed in Group 1.277. I then plugged the numbers into the forum's online parts database. However, the results were kind of odd.

538585 P/8 A.C., taxi, police, heavy duty chassis & heavy duty radiator. The online database says it fits 1955 through 1975 cars, which is hard to believe especially since newer cars had crossflow radiators that were completely different.

538799 P/8 except A.C., taxi, police, heavy duty chassis, & heavy day radiator. I believe this is just that small shield you normally find on these car with a regular cooling system. The online database says it only fits 1963 cars, but I got the number right from my 1961 book so that doesn't make sense. i think it's probably the same from 1961 through 1964, but in any case it's what you're looking to replace.

537170 All A.C., taxi, police, heavy duty chassis and heavy duty radiator. This is the same description used for 538585 so I don't know what the difference would be, but the online database says it fits 1961 through 1964 cars.

So, I'd think if you can find one from a 1961 through 1964 car it's probably going to work. There may be a chance other years will work as well but I suspect they'd need modifications.

Thanks Stuart for looking this stuff up. My car has the "finger guard", but the radiator area is open. It had a 4 blade direct driven fan blade. My goal is to upgrade the air flow at idle and low speeds as I am building a new engine which will have roughly SD-421 HP or a little more. So I will need additional cooling capacity. Trying to keep a more or less stock looking appearance. Really don't want to go the giant aluminum radiator electric fan kind of deal on this car. I think a full circle shroud like the AC cars had and a nice new top flow radiator with a wide core and a clutch fan should do the trick. Thanks again and I will see what's out there.

I found an old series of posts on the forum that indicated a one inch strip would need to be added to a 63/64 shroud on the sides and it would then bolt to a 61/62 radiator? I can certainly do that if it's that simple. Any thoughts? I have access to a mig and a spot welder.

Mike I sent you an email. I have a fan shroud and a seven blade mopar fan that looks like and fits '61-'64 b bodies.

The other thing that the A/C cars have is the rubber seal across the top of the core support, that mates with the hood. Also rubber seal flaps around the sides and bottom of the radiator.

When I did mine I used two 2 inch wide flat strips (one each side) from Lowes. Drilled holes at matching spacing and just bolted one hole line to shroud and one line to the radiator support. No welding and totally removable. I did paint them black and used a flat rubber strip under the bolts each side to make an air dam each side.

I use a 7 blade declutching fan. I think 19 inch.
