Default 428 Value

I saw the other post on 455 value and instead of stomping on that thread, I have a similar question....

I'm thinking of unloading a '69 bare YH 428 block with matching 4 bolt caps. Standard bore and has been tanked/verified. Super nice. What's the going rate for something like this these days?

Are you sure it has 4-bolt caps? Most 1969 YH 428 blocks were tapped for 4-bolt mains but were fitted with 2-bolt caps. The 69 YH motor came with "46" small valve heads.

I had a 69 360HP 428 with 4-bolt caps, but it was a WG coded engine out of a manual tranny car. It also had "62" heads.

Yes, positive it has 4 bolt caps that are original to it. This isnt the first 4 bolt YH I've had.

So, back to the topic any opinions on VALUE?

I've seen 428 blocks going for $750-1500 for a good core (towards the higher end for 4 bolt main cap blocks) and $2000+ when they run, but it's been a while since I've been in the market for one. They're similar in value to a 455 but their market is more geared towards date code guys in my experience as the general population likes bigger cubes.

In my area, $500-800 would sell it, if patient enough.

I've never seen a '69 YH with 4-bolt caps though. I have a '67 YH with 4 bolt caps, but then again, all 67-68 428s were 4-bolt cap

Default At least $1000 for a standard bore 4-bolt main that has been magged

Probably closer to $1500 if it's sold to someone close who doesn't need it shipped. Too bad you're not a little closer........

It would be a great block for someone who has new 455 std bore pistons and crank to build a 'stock dimension' 455 with.

Love those 4" stroke motors!

Good luck!

Agree w/.Mark. If its clean and been magged 1000.- is a good deal for a 4 bolt block.
Is it standard bore or oversized ?
