After a few months we start getting a rodent and bug problem, all the surrounding neighbors do. Go over there and it’s a burnt down hoarders paradise, she was truly living in nasty conditions and the fire just added to the glory. She is no where to be found and the county has the property up for auction starting in November. Opening bid is back taxes owed of 640 and some change. I am gonna bid 1500 just for fun since we are on a privately owned non county road and I don’t think many people will look at it. If I get it I am gonna bulldoze it and build a shop across the street instead of ruining my backyard
Well then you won't being doing this...

I totally get the desire to build a shop, but the neighborhood covenants are there to protect all residents.
I agree...but he could build a new house the new property and knock his house down and build a garage...

There is a guy in a development in a town near me that wanted to build a garage on the empty lot next to his house. From the outside it looks like a rancher wth attached 2 car garage. There are no rooms inside except a small bathroom in the back corner. He can park a dozen cars inside that "house". Driving down the street, you would think it's just another nice house, not a huge garage.

I’d have to poll my neighbors but we’ve been here since the neighborhood was built. I can build a shop on my land now and could have when the house was built as long as it’s not just a shop and no house. The lot is directly across from me so I doubt anyone would say anything but you’re right one person could block the permit. Then I could get really ****ty and start complaining about everyone’s teenagers doing burnouts in the cul de sac

I’ve seen garages built to look like houses- toured one that is a couple miles from me. Looks like another house but is full of Lamborghinis and Ferrari’s. Guy was really successful but was happy living in his regular neighborhood so figured why should I leave?

I bought some property in Colorado and asked my realtor for the number to the guy who owns the property next to me. I talked with him about three times and all seems good. I hired a surveyor to survey the property and the surveyor walked on his property. The nut bag call me up and cusses me out for over 20 minutes. I tried to make peace, but this asshat was telling me he wished I were dead amongst other things. What a nutbag. His wife does nothing but stare out the window and film everything I do. The property is for sale. My experience with mountain folk is they're 25% crazy.

I think I read some where that smoking too much Mary Jane can make you paranoid? That couldn’t happen in a state where it’s legal, could it???

My experience is 25% of ALL folk are crazy... and the other 75% say I am.

But I've been neighbor-lucky I guess and feel bad you bought next to someone like that...

I suspect I've upset a few neighbors in my life!

I do remember watching two neighbor "moms" screaming and cussing across their shared chain-link fence while spraying each other with their garden hoses. Quite entertaining for a 9 or 10 year-old.

Sure!

Or in any of the other 49 states.

You haven't seen crazy until you've worked a retail counter at a parts store. Right before closing the nuts come in.

I’m very fortunate. My nearest neighbor is a mile away, and though his is only a few years younger than me, he and his family stay to themselves pretty much. I knew his parents and grandparents well.

My oldest daughter plans to build on some of my (it will be hers eventually) property to help tend to me and my wife as our health diminishes, but that’s about it, so no worries if I crank something with open headers, or shoot as much as I want

Last year after about 6 months of verbal assault from my neighbor I asked him if he would like to come over and say that to my face. He finally ran across the street and swung at me, I promptly grabbed him and jacked him in the face a couple of times and then slammed him to the ground. I haven't heard a peep from him since!

Irony twist for me... I sold the piece of property next to Captain Jackass to him to break even. Whatever... I'm out of it.
