Default 1968-1969 NOS GTO Lemans wheel opening molding set

So I am trying to help my son fund his restoration on the family '68 GTO that has been sitting in storage for over 35 years. When he finally opened the trunk, he found 1968 GTO wheel opening chrome still in the 'package'. That is in quotes because the paper is there but super brittle - the paper breaks apart when you pick it up.

So here are the questions...
Since he is not trying to have a number matching / original car, does it make sense to sell these and then just buy reproductions in order to get a couple extra dollars in his pocket?

If so, what is the appropriate price for the NOS piece since reproductions can be purchased for $200. Meaning should they command a big premium?

Thanks for helping fund the dream. If pictures will help - I will post later today!

You can buy a complete repop set for under two hundred but nos go 50-100 a piece depending. Post pictures for better idea however PY doesnt approve of a bidding thread. You need to note a selling price or have your ad pulled.

The last set I had I sold back in August for $750.00. A complete set is difficult to come across. You can find one here and one there, you will pay $125.00 to $200.00 each and spend a year or two maybe longer to collect a complete set.

Thank you to all helped provide feedback on what my son has.

I am going to ask $600 for the set. Please read the details below.

First it was a real mess trying to get these out the trunk without damaging the paper. Some of the paper is attached to the chrome.

Two of them are in NOS package - and the package is basically together - small rips and tears at the edges.

One of them is in a shredded package but looks to be ok and still has the screws in the plastic package.

And then one of them which was on the bottom of the trunk appears to have been test fit to the car at some point in its history - the reason I am guessing this is that it is out of the package plus there is some faint reddish color paint - maybe primer? Also there is a small dent. I will try to upload more pictures in the next post.

Paypal or Venmo please. Buyer also pays shipping.

If that is a dent at the top of this photo it will certainly effect the value of the set

I did.

Wasn't getting bunches of responses in here. So after PM'ing with some helpful forum members, I thought it was the best option.

I would gladly take down the EBay listing for any long standing forum member...that is interested.

Thanks to all.
