Default 67 steering column in a 65?

Looking to increase safety factors in my 65. Will a 67 energy absorbing column retro fit to a 65? Anyone done this mod? Thanks!

Wiring is different. How different? I don't know but '67 has the emergency flasher in the column.

Last night I put the 67 wiring diagram side by side with the 65. No question, the 65 harness will need to be modified with the second flasher but it doesn't look overwhelming. The one issue is how to get the single turn signal indicator of the 65 to work with the 67 configuration. The 67 has right and left indicators.

I like the idea of having it on the column and not having that goofy thing hanging off the bottom of the dash. I don't think it is going to be rocket science to wire it up, just take a little figuring. Google it, I'm sure many people have done it before. I would think its right up there with eliminating the external voltage regulator.
