I went from the muncie 4 speed to the T-56 and have loved it. I went with the 2.97 first but also paid extra to change the .50 6th gear to the .63 so gear shifting seems fairly seamless through all gears. I am using 28" tires and have a 4.11 geared Quick Performance 9" with 35 spline axles and a tru trac posi. Using the duel disc clutch with hydraulic throwout bearing. I do hammer on the car hard but it has made a whole different (great) driving experience than I have had with the car in the 44 years I have owned it. Been very happy with it.

Man, things changed quick for me.
Shortly after this thread, Tremec released the TKX, which really appeals to me. Rated to 600 ft lbs, and in a compact case that shouldn’t require any tunnel cutting. Then, I decided to sell the 535. So, the current plan is to go with the new TKX and upgrade my 400 engine. I have several other ideas for the car as well... may start a separate “build thread” because I have other questions still, and also want a place I can track my progress and keep up with “the plan”. Stay tuned.
