Default 65 Tempest

I finally got around to putting my 65 in the air today and pulled the wheels and drums off to assess where the wheel cylinder was blown out. I forgot how much fun drum brakes were as one side came right off, but the other side took a full two hours, can of WD40, torch and 3 lb sledge to get it off. Was completely rusted to the axle flange. Was a great way to get my 14 year son broken into working on old cars. Here are a few photos of it in the garage.

It was in the car when I got it but my research came out to a 1968 or 1969 GS400. I really don't remember off the top of my head. I think they called these 8.5 rear ends

My 65 Tempest convertible. Originally a column shift automatic inline six, now has a 72 455, 66 tripower, M20 and 3.36 12 bolt... I hope to get it in the body shop for paint soon; for the past 10 years I have been collecting NOS side trim, grille, hood ornament, tail light lenses, bezels and a tail panel for it when it is done. It will always be a TEMPEST...

Traction was nonexistent (at least for me). Still a great time at an Old School Show and Go.

That would be nice. Keep me posted, if you need I have an assortment of soft rubber to choose from that you're more than welcome to.

NYGTO, what did it run?

Here's mine at Atco having the reverse problem...too much traction! Bogged off the line. Still managed 12.80@108

Default Time

Without any traction it ran 9.24 @ 77 mph. I thought high 8's were within reach but that wasn't going to happen without bite.

Dan your car looks fantastic. The turquoise and bright wheels work well together.
