Looking for suggestions or part numbers for a set of HD ( not spring loaded) shocks, priced out a set of Bilstien, but am not wanting to pay $500 for complete set.

Jim Moshier Jim Moshier is online now Senior Member Yep, I too went through the shock carousel for my 1962 Catalina the fronts were easy and made a pretty big difference, as I found out the right rear and left front shocks were blown out and there is a bridge that we call the sailing sailing bridge as it is quite wavy going over it at speed in a regular car and with the Catalina it started bucking and I would have to reduce my speed to cross it. Anyway, I used the KYB-Gas shocks as they were Mono-tube, On the Front, I used the KYB-4550 by the numbers are Extended 13.54" Compressed 9.25" 4.29 Stroke. other options were the KG-4515. and on the rear-end the old shocks on the car were a Gaberial # 733625 that crosses over to a Monroe 33082 I didn't know if these were the correct shocks bit this is what I have found out. I wanted the same shock manufacturer on the front and the back so I did some research and found 4 options KG-4012 KG-5426 KG-5507 KG-5438 I used the KG-4012 as the numbers of 21.0" extended 12.9" Compressed with a 7.89" stroke with the shorter compressed at 12.9" made sense to me as my car is a little lower with 58-year-old springs. I hope this helps with different options for your 62 Cat shocks
