In reply to PontiacJim1959: My actions or words have offended you and I apologize for that, and unfortunately I suspect there's nothing I could say that would make you feel better.
--- Under normal circumstances a discussion like this would have been removed from the Lobby before it got to the bottom of the first page, but these are exceptional times. Many people want a place to talk about what's going on, so it's been left in place. The best we moderators can do is to try to keep the discussion running down the road in a relatively straight fashion, and when it appears to be swinging too far in one direction or the other try to aim it back down the road again. There is a separate discussion going on in the Clubhouse that may be more appropriate for those who have more extreme views. |

I guess I should know better than to say anything, but...
I place zero value on forum posts that are merely links to news organizations (posts #483, 486, etc. of this thread).

Probably nothing wrong with helping people stay informed by the scientists, doctors and experts. Not everyone has the time to do all the searching themselves.
Personally I like the links people post, often informs me of something I didn't know. In a time like this it's probably best if people can easily find accurate information. But to each his own, I value everyone's opinions and efforts. In the future I'll try to put them all in the same post so it will be less intrusive. Last edited by dataway; 04-10-2020 at 04:03 AM. |

Economy
I know we have a pandemic causing the economy to shutdown. But, it also show how fragile it was and is...
A global hurricane with everyones home, goods, and environment intact. And its not a new day yet to see a recovery. Who doesnt feel that impact?

Other than not being able to obtain a haircut, visit with friends and family, and turn license plates in, not much has changed negatively for me. I have seen increased pay since my job is considered essential. Fortunately, I did all of the face to face stuff with purchasing a new home before the shutdowns. I haven't had to deal with competing buyers because they can't see the house in person. The interest rate and asking price have been reduced due to the nature of the economy. Hopefully, this pause in society will end at the end of the month. Otherwise, those who have lost everything might not succumb to Covid, but to other demises due to their anguish.

Seems the protocol to use ventilators was a wrong/bad plan, since more than 55% died when put to ventilators. Whereas the HCQ gets breathing going. Also just Oxygen gets them viable.

Havent heard about the PA school closings other than on here, but the way they are starting to ramp up the online learning in our county, surely seems like they are planning on closing out as well. The first 2 weeks they issued some stuff to keep the kids busy. My sister is a retired teacher but still has friends in the biz and insider info. She said they weren't going to do any grading at all. Then when the next 2 weeks off were announced they started with a schedule of work to be completed, from individual teachers with a daily workload. Now they are looking for donations of chrome books to loan out to those without, I suppose the school systems supply has dried up. I will not be surprised at all when they make the announcement! Not too big of a deal for us with a second grader, but it would be pretty rough if you were graduating this year.

I live in the 2nd highest infected county.
No one on 4 fire dept's, police, ambulance, street dept, coworkers, family, friends, knows anyone having the virus. Just say'n... That's a good thing, but makes you wonder how serious is compared to other health issues...

Have any factual evidence? Wait another week or so. Probably know some by then if everyone has an attitude like this.

Don't worry, i'm taking precautions.
Have hand sanitizer in all vehicles since my wife battled breast cancer 2 yrs ago. She's in remission now, but I still use it 1st thing since after leaving stores and gas stations, etc. But I see people driving alone in their car, windows up, and wearing a mask

Forgot to mention, same people wear the same pair of gloves all day long without using sanitizer. What's worse, that or washing hands frequently?

Wearing the same gloves all day (or extended periods) is worse for two reasons. If the virus comes in contact with the glove it can survive for hours on the surface. Whatever the glove touches (drive-through change?) can allow it to transmit. I wear disposable nitrile gloves a lot at work, so I now wear the same when I shop in a store or pump gas. They go into the trash right afterwards, not in my pocket or on my console.
Secondly, wearing gloves too long can create sweat moisture that is a great host for accelerating bacteria. If your skin is compromised you're prone to infections forming. That I learned from an anesthesiologist I know. |
