I'm looking at a 1965 GTO to purchase. It's a "driver" that has been stored very poorly. The windshield channel is rusted out at the base and includes a hole at the base of the dashboard. This repair will have to be fixed because the windshield itself is broken from having weak support on the drivers side.

I'm hoping to keep this repair to a minimum, only to be able to support a windshield and not go the the distance as in a restoration if that's possible.

How much should I figure I'll need to spend to correct the channel and windshield replacement? Thanks in advance.

I have no expertise with this model (I do know a trans am pretty well though), but with my experience, if that part is rotted, there is a pretty good chance that its the tip of an iceberg!

Perhaps 3 days labor in a pro shop, depending on how far it goes. Took me about 4 days at home to do the complete lower channel on a full size.
But like TAkerry says... holes in the lower channel usually means water in the car at some point, which most times has lead to hidden corrosion. Cowl, heaterbox, floors and even the firewall itself are susceptible.

A piece of window and cowl section would have to be sourced from a donor car.
