Default Piston weight reduction?

So now that i know i need to have some of the pistons lightened, can i tell my shop to cut the bottom of the skirt? As you can see in the picture i have 3 that have a shorter skirt,5 longer skirt.I know they cut at the bottom of the pin boss to lighten but can i cut the skirt instead? Its only 3-5 grams difference.

i would leave the skirt alone. the reason the skirt is longer is the skirt wall is thinner.

The skirt also provides the "widest" point for the piston to ride in the bore. DO NOT cut the skirt!

Remove the material from the pin bosses. The flat area below the pin is known as the "balance pad". More material can be safely removed from above the pin in the boss, as long as you stay away from the pin bore.
