Next with the Baytown track, the Gay family no longer has ownership in the track. They still have influence but no deals thru that route. Lastly, it was always about a combined car show and drag race event that did the event in. Just like here, little mention is made about the car show side and more about the racing. Well, that is the downfall since car show people generally do not always race and the reverse, racers don't always like the show. Then you want to add in family outings as well... race tracks normally are not close to family areas and the hotels are also not there. The theme should be one or the other, unless you have big sponsors and a budget and get national attendance like POCI, Ames, etc. It was also tried to get GTOAA nationals here in Houston, but again, it was well it is too far to go, well for us NY or SD is also too far. No one is happy. We do need more Southern events.
Good info, engineer. Thanks for chiming in.

BTW, are you located in or around Houston? I had no idea.
E-mail or PM me if you wish.

I'm glad to see there's a date set so the event can move forward. I've missed not having the PSN event around the last few years - should be fun!! SAR is a good track too and they're not afraid to lay down the traction compound which is very nice for those of us with 10" and smaller tires.

We will see if my bird is flying by then. Myself and others from Abilene will try hard to attend. Should be plenty of time to get things ready. Looking forward to it.

Here, here...

It takes a lot of time and effort from a local group to put on a show and race. Hats off to the guys in San Antonio for taking up the challenge. Hopefully this new venue will encourage participation from some new folks.

Jim Wangers and I have always loved coming to Texas for some Pontiyakin'...I guess we will not have to exit Hwy 10 for this trip.

Who are the event organizers? If one of you are on the board, drop me a line as I am working on Wangers' travel calendar for 2008.

All,
Thank you for your patience while we worked out some of the details. There will be an update on the DAPA web site the afternoon of Thursday, January 31. The web address is www.dapa.org. There will be additional updates as we get closer to the event dates of June 7th and 8th, but the key components will be posted tomorrow. We look forward to seeing everyone at the PSN.

Thank you from the PSN Committee

Here's a link to the San Antonio Raceway. Very nice facility and within 40 miles of San Antonio. I hope to see many of you here this summer!
