More than likely it is legit, but the major problem is...... it is missing a key component, the "ONE YEAR ONLY" lower ram air pan and possibly the hood pan. Going to be big bucks to replace with an original, if you can find one. I would not go with a repop on a car that is otherwise all original. JMTC!

Description says it lacks option 611 which is the functional Ram Air. This car is a 400-HO and the air cleaner is correct.

If this is the car I think it is , I remember when it sold last time .
I’d have to check . If so it may not be a RAIIi but an HO either way it is a prime
Example though . IF it’s the same car

Yup that’s the car real nice car. Same block codes .

From what I can tell it’s an early car, I believe I remember talk that many early cars didn’t get the RA pans because they didn’t realize it was a separate deal.

So many thought they were buying the cold air package but didn’t get it w the car.

I believe that the Ram Air option was also only available late in the model year. Unlike the GTO where the Ram Air pans were tied to the 400 HO (WS-YZ) engine option and therefore you couldn't order any higher output engines until about the end of 68 on the Firebird the 400 HO was available from the beginning of the model year.

FWIW here are the earliest invoice dates I have for 69 Firebirds with:

400 HO (without RA): Oct 5th 68 (out of 18 cars)

400 HO (with RA): March 19th 69 (out of 4 cars)

400 RAIV: March 11th 69 (out of 6 cars)

Bear in mind my 69 Firebird PHS collection is only about 150 cars. the above numbers do not include the TA's except for the RA IV option (3 TA's- 3 non TA's)

By the way, the earliest TA invoice date I have (of 44 PHS's) is June 10th 69. If you look at the VIN's of those TA's the date seems about right for early June (comparing the invoice date to VIN of similar date and VIN regular Firebirds). It also appears that early TA's were built in "batches" with the first group all being about the second week of June then another batch at the start of July, perhaps delays in TA specific components like hoods or wings?

as for GTO's, earliest:

Judge: Jan 23rd 69 (of 541)

RA (non Judge): Dec 18th 68 (of 73)

RA IV: Feb 25th 69 (of 58)

My 69 GTO dates are more statistically meaningful because I have almost 8% of all Judges built, and 7.75% of all RA IV cars (judge and non-judge).

Most likely is, I only have 6 RAIV Fbird invoices. That’s for that invoice too! Can’t have too many!
