Default 1966 GTO console will not open

Help ---- My 1966 GTO console lid will not open . It is not locked and pushing
the lock button does not work. The car only has 40,000 miles on it
I bought it new and don't want to damage the cover

THanks for any help----- George

If your positive it's isn't locked try some PB buster/WD40 or such.
Spray it in and keep inserting key in & out it may just be frozen.
Worst case is drilling out the lock. They are avail new.

Just to be sure here is my locked console, the button still has some up & down movement.
