Default Pump E85 quality test results

I finally got around to testing the quality of the Pearson’s pump E85 I’ve been running since switching to EFI. Engine runs great and I have no complaints. Hard to beat for $2.79 a gallon. If it’s available in your area I feel it’s a great alternative fuel. Keep in mind my engine is a 13.8 compression IA2 with a decent size roller cam.

I grabbed a cheap E85 test kit off Amazon and tested some fuel last night. The fuel was better than I expected honestly. Turned out to be around E86/E87

Have any of you tested your local pump E85? What were your results?

i like the fuel and its capabilities, and have run 13.4: 1 on my engine. i do not have a ''local source.'' local to me is about 45 minutes away. sometimes its 80% sometimes its 70%. there are a few other sources, i have not tested but they are more than an hour out. I had been filling a 55 gallon barrrel wach year in ohio withthe good stuff, tested to 87 or better usually, and then cutting it with the bad stuff at home.
the bad is the hydroscopic and corrosive nature of the fuel. it seems to thrive on holley fuel bowls, magnaflow fuel pump seals and metering blocks. this is why i switched to race gas two years ago, I got tired of the muck. maybe it is just my area, but having to travel for it and the fact that i dont get out more than 6-10 times a year, the race gas expense was tolerable.
that being said, i converted to efi recently and the next combo will be single turbo, pump gas, E85 flex fuel sensored 330 E HEAD 505. the fuel system is def capable of ethanol tolerance, hopefully the injectors and throttle body also washed out enough by th epump gas that i can actually drive this car more often.

Our area at this time of summer I have tested it as high as 95%. I like it for the street. Especially if you run EFI where as it can calibrate itself with changes in grade that day and weather. To inconsistent for racing for me (carburetor). Went back to race gas. We have plenty of access at the pump in our area which takes a lot of the hassle out for cruising around. It does like to turn back to sugar if it sits idle for awhile as it evaps.

I have the ethanol sensor in all 3 of my cars, the highest Ethanol around here, Buffalo Grove IL, is E77, every other station is UNDER E70 all the time, then in the winter it gets lower due to the blending for it. I haven't been to every Ethanol pump near me but so far they're not even close to E85.

SW Ohio - I bought a fair amount last summer, and every batch I tested was 85-86 every time.
