I had a friend back in the 80's who did what you are doing but he ran the 5/16" tubes down along the inner wheel wells then attached rubber hoses and then ran them through the upper trunk part so that the hoses came out above the rear axle.
Ive never seen it so your pics now give me a better idea on how to do my 66 Goat.

I am planning to do this trick to my 67, but I was going to weld in a short nipple in the side panel, which would be the part of the quarter panel that wraps around to the window well. I was going to use 5/16 or 3/8 tube and attach a hose on it above the wheel tub and run it forward into the quarter window compartment. Plenty of water in that area already so no worries about a little more.

There is one more area that I am going to try some trickery on and that is the rear tail panel above the trunk key hole. I am planning to make a small "gutter" into the weatherstrip channel to dewater that area. Seems like alot of cars rust out there due to it holding water in that low point.

I was fortunate that my GTO was built in Fremont and never left sunny SoCal; the rear window gutter was the only badly rusted area, save some surface rust in the trunk (probably caused by the rubber mat) and the driver's footwell. Actually, the leaking rear window and the rusty orange patina on the rear deck and tops of the fenders is what triggered this resto since the old survivor car looked pretty sweet otherwise, @ least in pics .

Made a lot of progress since bringing the GTO home last week. Installed the new grill along w/ new park light lenses and re-chromed bezels, and finished up the rear w/ polished & re-chromed parts. Tomorrow I'll tackle the rat's nest of wires under the dash, install some quality sound deadner, and trial fit the carpet. Note the bitchin' hood hinges, restored by good friend and master craftsman Roland Hall, who advertises his services in the Smokes. I need to find some special huts for my long rear wheel studs, which are necessary for my thick Weld wheels that I race with.

Began by thoroughly cleaning the floor and then surgically removing a ton of old alarm wiring and relays for the door locks from under the dash. Then I applied the Raam mat (silver foil up) to most of the open areas, followed by the thin black closed cell foam applied over the the mat and held in place by spray adhesive. Once the sound deadner was completed I trial fitted the new carpet after first measuring for the shifter location and then cutting a suitable groove in order to clear it. Tomorrow: final fit carpet, door panel water shields, door panels, kick panels, trunk divider, package shelf & rear speaker, seats, and console. That's the plan anyway .

Test fitted the carpet, a little final fitting/trimming and then new sill plates, I'm digging it .

QUESTION, IIRC the factory cut the carpet to in order provide small flaps that served to cover up the bucket seat mounting brackets fasteners. Anyone have a pic of a survivor car's carpet illustrating how they did it @ the factory?

With it being insulated, you may not need to. I recommend calling the manufacturer and getting their input.
