The suspense is killing me.
Well, actually it isn’t. This whole thing is being milked like a prime heifer. It will be well photographed as another car needing restoration in 30 days. Very cool, but there are lots of cool cars. |

For me the holy grail would be. That car discovered as a one off Vert 4 speed.
I'm sure what Rogers working on will be pretty darn cool too!

I hope it never gets restored - maybe just a nose job.

Maybe just a peek...as an introduction.
Any other theories on the black bumper? |

I always thought this cover car was OO
Muscle_Collector in Oklahoma owns the only other 71 OO car that is known/documented. 455-HO GTO Not sure if he has ever piddled with it enough to be able to verify if the nose was factory painted OO , or not. I don't think we even have full account of any special paint 71 GTO/Judges to know whether they came painted to match or generic color. This OO Judge M_C's GTO And a goofy green JVert that we know almost nothing about , are the only 3 special paint 71's i can recall. Not much to go on. This Judge is the only one of them that is/was still wearing factory paint of the 3 - as far as i know. |

It's Black in this old picture
Is the picture on time stamped paper ? Looks less than 5 years old at the time |

The car in this thread has been repainted in the past, so it's no longer all original paint.

just a thought, but if they had made this one with a black spoiler it mighta (is that a real word) been a cool deal.
as for my car, it was resprayed another color with what looks like krylon and its all peeling off everywhere and you can see the orbit orange on every body panel and in all the jams, trunk panel, etc... the nose is oo also but who knows if it actually was delivered to the dealer that way or painted when the dealer got it. my guess is the dealer painted it when it came in if special paint cars were delivered with primered noses. last, does any know how the color on endura noses on gto's and firebirds was actually applied at the factory?? and when? im assuming they were painted before being installed on the body???? |

On standard colors -
(proper color) was supposedly sprayed into the mold first then the molten endura material poured in on top of that. Heavy science for the day and time. And is said that the "factory finish" on the enduras was hell to repaint (get bonding action) for several years until more chemical technology was produced. On special paint colors Seems like they "should" have supplied the enduras in primer coat and the dealer or any GM approved dealer could paint to match. There may have been choices on that parameter .... idunno Primer Coat or Finish Coat of Select Standard Color |

fixed. If there is a coating on the mold to prevent hte paint from bonding to the mold, that would do it - then the poured endura would bond to the partially or fully cured paint. Like I said before, that's SUPER cool!

So, the guys making the endura bumpers for all endura.
Have a paint booth for all colors ready for each pour and steel imbed. First, I ever heard this and it would be super cool if documented.

I thought most seasoned regular readers already knew about this ?
One of our PY members worked for the off-site supplier. Been some discussions in past , might be buried in unrelated thread topics. Either in this section or 68-69 section. I dont have any books on it Mike Noun might have some data. Search function on here is probably the best bet. i couldn't // wouldn't make this up |
