Default IRS

I have a Viper center section sitting around that I originally bought for my Miata [went with Cobra] and was contemplating using it in my 65. Has anyone installed IRS in an early GTO that you are aware of?

there was a blurb in hot rod or popular hot rodding a little while ago about someone putting a new GTO irs in a 66.

an interesting discussion of IRS conversions and practicality. there;s surely more on the subject on that site. http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sho...light=body+irs

Check with Wayne Due in Oregon. He has kits for installing C4 IRS into A/F bodies.

Personally, I was looking to do a C5 IRS and transaxle.

Thanks guys. I may sell the Viper unit, seems they bring some good change. I think I can sell the Viper center for enough to pay for a complete Vette unit. I went through the theory arguements when I built a standing mile car, was thinking of switching to a solid in that car. I think a Corvette unit would be better, parts a readily available for one, and I am building this car to drive around the country. Still thinking........

I don't know your requirements, but are you aware of the 9" Ford-based IRS's on the market? One is by RCC of Texas, and I forget the maker of the other one.
