Default Redail slick fitment

What size and type of radial drag slick (not running on streets, only track) will fit and is preferred for a '69 GTO, looking for a 28" tire and as wide as possible. Buying new rear slicks and rims ( probably steelies).
Thanks

whatever will fit in the wheelwells, (285/65/15)? the catalogs list the width and diameter but you have to know what will actually fit without rubbing under accelleration. there are only a couple sizes available in radial. why not buy the DOT approved radial slicks and drive it to the track without having to change when you get there? Just drop pressure down to about 25 and run. IMO, The DOTs will hook just as well as the track only radial slick size for size. From what Ive heard the radial type slicks really do a great job and feel much more stable at high speed. I hope to try them some day.
I have a 28x10.5" wide MT bias ply slick on my 64 but I think it took the original owner some bumping and grinding to get safe all the way around it. I have no idea if a 69 has more or less room.
