Default 63 Tachometer repair

Any current recommendations for repair of a 63 tach? I did an archive search, but the information retrieved was pretty old.

Thanks, James Q

Serio is six months behind and it doesn't sound like he wants to work on it any way.

Any other possibilities?

Thanks, James Q

After much research (mostly calling the folks who have advertised in HMN "Services Offered" section the longest), I went with CGR Restorations in South Carolina.

He was very polite and professional. I sent him my tach, he called me and said the works were not repairable (which Pete Serio had also told me).

He replaced the works with new (adding one wire for 12v) and reused my gauge face, needles and rev setter knob. He also polished the dial face and polished up the chrome very nicely!

I got it back in about three weeks with a wiring diagram for the new wires.
I installed it today and it is working very well!

You can't tell any change was made externally.

Cost was $350 with all the shipping.

I am pleased and recommend them if you need these services!

Good to know James. Thanks for your legwork. I talked with Pete about 5 years ago to do the same thing ...he was pretty busy then and I didn't have any hurry so I never looked into it anymore. May send mine to SC now that I have the info. :-) Bruce
