1965 Catalina Safari rear Pontiac letters
Ames carries new 1966 wagon P O N T I A C letters for the tailgate but they can't tell me the difference between those and 1965 letters. Anyone happen to know what the difference is?
If I had known it would be this difficult to find them I would have filled in the holes before painting and it wouldn't have looked out of place. As it is I have random holes specific to the original letter studs. While I'm on the subject, does anyone have a 1965 set to sell?

When I bought my ‘63 Safari it said O TIAC on the tailgate. I have no intention of finding the rest of the letters. Holes will be filled! Wagons are tough.

Yeah, but a lot of people will be seeing the rear of this car so it needs to look good. I don't want them thinking "that car just cleaned my clock, but don't know what it was..."

Can you replace all the letters with the 66 repos'?
Very few people would know the difference, if there is one. James Q

Doesn't seem like anyone knows what the difference is. Don't care if the font is different, but if they moved the holes for the letters that wouldn't be good. I called Ames last year and they didn't know why the letters were only for the 66.

Mick, you need someone that still has the old printed parts books to look it up. I know there are members here that have them.
I would think 65 and 66 tailgates would be the same, letters would probably fit too. |

Good idea. Would a new thread in the street section be best to ask for someone to look up whether the two years for the letters are compatible? Even if there was a font change they will look tremendously better than the stick on letters the previous owner ended up with.
