Default '74 GTO Shift indicator

How does the PRND indicator in the dash work? With a console shifter- automatic, is there suppose to be a arm that goes from the tranny shift connector into the frame and than another that goes from that bar up to the steering column?

Can someone take a picture of what the linkage is suppose to be like.

Thanks

It has been a while since I had a 74 automatic car, but if memory serves the shifter linkage is connected to a rod at the trans that rotates the steering column. Attached to the column is a thin nylon strand that pulls the shift indicator from P to L. A spring is attached and acts as a return when going back to park.

I hope this helps some.

Hmmm, looked at all my pics but nothing and I won't have the car back for a couple weeks. Sounds like you are on the right track and have a good idea of the setup though.
