Default Looking for a new toy. 66-69 GTO

I'm looking for a 66-67 or the right 68-69 GTO. The prices are all over the place and deserve to be for some nice cars that are out there for sale but I just want a great driver. Maybe an older restoration but nothing that requires a ton of body work. Actually prefer non numbers matching or an awesome roller. I already have an engine but if a numbers matching car comes along, then I'd just save all the original stuff for future resale.
Obviously the cheaper the better but I am realistic and don't mind waiting for the right car. I could go buy a restored Judge but I really want to build another car Pro touring style. So I need the price to be no more than $20k-ish?? and that would have to be a nice car.
I know, I know... it's asking a lot, but maybe you know someone and I would definetly appreciate any leads. Thanks!!!!

I know a guy with a non matching numbers 67 GTO with a 4 speed. White with red interior. I have drove the car and it runs and drives great. He wants $14,000 for it.

I was wondering if you were going to buy that car. The price is right.

Hey Greg, I still want the option to buy your 68/9 in your signature when you decide to sell. I asked you about it a year or so ago. I love the color combo, wheels... everything on it !!

lol...well, I'll keep that in mind. I really would like to have a nice driver quality 4spd '65 Hardtop before I cash in my chips so maybe I'll move some things to make that happen.

Thanks 300,
I talked to him, seemed very nice. Said he doesn't have any pictures but if his son comes by he can take some and send them to me.

Linden, I'll pm you the guys number as well. I don't mind but FYI it's kinda odd/rude to post on someone else's wanted thread trying to get info on the same car. Just bad forum etiquette.

this car was discussed in other threads well before it ever got to this thread. i do apologize for asking about it here - didn't really realize i was in a 'wtb' thread - but you can honestly spare me your judgment on my forum behavior.

I will say that whomever buys it, its a good buy at $14000. I looked it over pretty good and drove it. It does have cheesy aluminum wheels. The car would instantly look amazing with some Cragars, Rally one or twos. The motor runs exceptional, and muncie was rebuilt and works flawlessly. The only issues I saw was 2 body mounts were not installed, and trunk pan was replaced and not much effort was taken to finish it off...but that would be fairly easy. The car was wired with Painless wiring. All lights, fuel gauge, everything seemed to work great. Engine makes pretty good power...I did step on it pretty good. It has a nice radio, power steering and power disc brakes. It will be a great car for somebody.

[QUOTE=Chadmokc;5741254]Thanks 300,

I would have bought the car, but blacktopping at my place is farther up on my list...plus I got my foot in the door on a 68 GTO with a 4 speed thats been sittin since 1973...and I have first shot at it...the guy has it stored in a facility, but owner of facility travels the world lots and its hard to meet up with him...but I will. It love 67's, but 68's and 69's are my favs. Its Flambeau Burgundy...which I love, 4 speed, and hideaways...all original except wheels...someone put Keystones on it back in the day...its only got 53,000 miles on it. The car will need to be gone through as its been sitting since 73.
