Default Follow up to 79 Lemans? Grand Am? what?

I received the PHS on this car and it matches everthing. Looks like it came with snowflakes and I think the owner still has them. Hopefully I will be able to get them. It has a nice list of options. I think its a keeper.

Anyone have some Grand Am emblems for sale?

Sold at a dealership about ten miles from me.

That sure looks like it cleaned up nice. I was wondering about your body side moldings. They are black down the center. I haven't seen them like that before. Did someone paint the centers, or, did some cars actually come that way?

They came that way. BTW notice the MSRP. Now go back and look what a Trans Am cost. Whe I bought my 80 I thought with the options I wanted it would be around $8k The one I bought after dealer add ons was $10,231. I still remember almost having a heart attack.

Default 1980 GTO

I hope you leave the GTO emblems & the 81 nose on there,to me you have the ultimate Gbody,It would look cool to put a GTO emblem in the grille also, sure would like to see the front of the car,I just bought a 80 Grand am it is white, repainting the nose and rear bumper right now, if you do decide to take the 81 nose off, I would be interested in it, I hope you don't though, I think the 81 lemans nose is the best looking g body nose ever made, these are just my opinions & you have a very nice car, hope you keep it.

adam6640 The 81 nose stays. I like it also. The GTO emblems are gone. The plan is to keep it for a while?? I have a 1980 Sherwin Williams color manual that lists Ontario Gray as code 84 Hope that helps.

Where are you located?
I know (knew) where an original owner white '80 Grand Am was located in the 1990s, and talked with the owner a couple times. Last time I saw him or the car was 2002. I don't know if he still has the car or lives in the same town anymore.

BTY, 78-80 Grand Ams get mis-labled as G bodies by a whole lot of folks on this board, but they are actually A bodies.

The only painted side molding I've seen were on the silver Grand Am CA concept car Pontiac built in 78-79. Kent might know, but all the factory trim was chrome with black paint separation lines. I think it looks great with the black on it though.

Either way, that was a heck of a nice find.

Dave Not all of them were. We sold a 79 4dr 4spd Grand Am that was a black and gold two tone, with gold / buckskin int that had the black side mldgs. I shoulda bought that car. It was loaded right down to the OE truespoke wire wheels!

Take a look here. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...1&postcount=80

The right pic. On top is my stock 80 GA in 81. I did notice that my other 80 GA does not have the blacked out molding. See left pic.

I like that car alot. I think those wheels look better than the snowflakes will too (unless they are the 15x8 snowflakes).

Hey, It's for sale. Runs and drives great but does need some work. I removed the GTO emblems and the window louvers.
