I'm not sure I've ever seen a two tone '65 GTO.
My '66 GTO was originally a two-tone- Barrier Blue/Starlight Black.
Congratulations on a sweet ride!

Question front plate

What does the rear plate look like? My 1964-1965 only has 1 rear N.Y. plate. Just wondering. Thanks Bob.

To answer a couple of questions, the car was purchased new at Lou Villa Pontiac in Elmira NY. The NY plate I have on the front came with the car, it's the only one I got, along with two trunkfuls of parts, books, records & receipts, and even t-shirts.
The original owner kept everything!

Love the blue body and white painted top. Two tone paint is not all that common.

A very special GTO.

Welcome to the PY forums.

Hi Dale,

I hope you don’t mind that I post the Data Plate for all to see of your cool ‘65.

I’m not sure where I saw the PHS, POP on this car, but here is the plate.

L-C A = Teal Turquoise, lower body - Cameo Ivory, upper body - Black wheels

More proof of the “Ivory shifter button” that was used on the majority of 64-65 auto shifters from the factory.

Chris.

Chris,
No problem with that. Lots of good info to be had from this car, and from your '65.

Looking at the car in Post #1, the white top portion is painted very much like a 65 GTO convertible would appear from a distance. But obviously it is not a convertible.

Very nice colors. I have seen only two other "two tone" 65 cars like that. A rare car.

Welcome to the board.

Tom V.

Forgot to ask, what is the "18-2" at the lower right corner of the plate? I know what everything else is, but what is that?

18-2 is said to be the build-buck/jig that was used to build up the body on the Fisher side.
And that seems to have held water pretty well over the years.
We don't have any idea how many separate bucks there were.

My 65 GTO is 07A from PontiacPlant and jigged on buck # 22-2
A friend has one 02B jigged on buck # 26-1
Another friend has 02C jigged on buck # 18-1

12A on buck # 16-2
06A on buck # 17-2
06E on buck # 16-2

I grew up in the Elmira area. Do you know the street address to Lou Villa? The only Pontiac dealer I was aware of in Elmira was Steve Acuto.
