Default Bought my first 1st gen Bird today

For the first time ever, I am the owner of a first gen. I picked up a 1968 350 HO 4-speed convertible today. It is originally Aegena Blue with a white top and Parchment interior. Original drivetrain is still in the car minus only the 7028269 carb. I will be looking for a correct Q-jet for it. I will send in for the PHS as the car has a hood tach and I am curious if it was ordered that way. There are no other factory guages. Standard interior with AM radio and front console. Car will need a restoration, but appears to be solid with some rust issues in the floor and quarters. Pics soon.

I will get some pics tomorrow before I haul it off to storage. Car is currently painted red, but you can see the blue in certain areas. I imagine that production numbers for this combo has to be low. Most people would have opted for the 400.

Sounds like you have a twin to mine. Mine is 68 400 HO Aegena Blue with parchment but mine came with a black top.

Cowl tag shows E-1 for color. Red repaint is really crappy.

Took it by the resto shop that is working on my '70 T/A right now and he said it is a great candidate for a restoration. Going to sit in storage for a bit while I work on two at the same time. A third one will put me in an institution.

That's funny. When I found mine it was the same. Red, parchment and white top too.

Haha, my 69 is a palladium silver car that was also painted red by a previous owner! Red must have been a popular color for these cars in the 70s/80s!

Congrats!!

I've been trying hard to restore my 68 vert aegean blue while deluxe interior and white top car.

Doing an amateur resto takes a long time since I work full time as well.

Hoping to get it finished sometime next year. Been working on it already for about 15 months

It's been a fun journey so far but I am getting a little impatient wanting this to get completed.

Good luck with your restoration

Just got the PHS back on it yesterday. I have never owned a Pontiac older than 1970 so I was surprised to see the form is different. Instead of listing the actual dealer, it lists a zone and dealer number. My zone is 11 (Milwaukee, WI) and dealer number is 348 which I could not find. Does anybody know what dealer was number 348?

Also found out it is optioned as follows: 350 HO 4-speed, Hood Tach, Rally Guages, Front Console, AM radio with manual antenna, Rally II wheels and Redline tires. Can someone tell me what code Rally II wheels I will need? Also, what does the standard steering wheel look like. Both original wheels and steering wheel are missing.

Jeff your rally code is JC. Sheldon said he has a set. Early ones don't have a date code.
