And has not been made into yet anouther GTO Clone. Very happy to see one!!!!

Now I have a Question about 66 Pontiac A-body Red Interiors, This is the second Red 66 I have seen, The other being a 66 GTO that when I knew it it was still owned by the original owner who ordered the car (he passed away about 10 years ago) he ordered it "tripple Red" Red Paint, Vinyl Top, and Interior. When He received it he was shocked that it had a White Headliner, he was eventually giving $50 off the car to take it as is. And he Complained that at several car shows he was marked down for his Custom headliner, as nothing on the trim tag indicated that it came with a white headliner.
Now I see this 66 Tempest, Red with a Red Interior, also with a White Headliner. Now don't take it wrong, as I think it looks good with the white sprint Stripe, and the GTO also had a White pin Stripe that also set off the Headliner well. Was this standard? Optional? Or did they just run short of Red headliners some days? Just Curious in Michigan.
Thats not red but maroon.
I had a 66 Sprint same color but with white painted top and yes it had white headliner with red trim around it.
It too had a white sprint stripe.
I had another 66 that was white, red painted top and interior, also had white headliner.
I still have alot of interior parts from that one and it was a factory a/c car too.

I had pictures of the '66 and forgot to post them.
Nice looking ride, no good shots of interior.

Cool Cammer spotting

I met the owner of this 67 Tempest 4 door this past weekend.
The car is about 5 miles from me.
Plain Jane 4 door Tempest post car, am radio, auto and power steering.
Now I have to try & convince him not to strip & break this car up.
Battery was low, so I couldn't start it, but was told it has a spun bearing.
I hope to be able to offer him sheet metal equal to or better than the ones on this car, and then offer to buy the "rolling shell" he wants to sell in it's entirety.
Wish me luck

That is really not a bad looking Tempest, body looks to be solid in the pic's. and the interior also looks nice. Could be a nice driver. All depends on price of course.

Post 67 Tempest 4dr

Jeff
I'm going to give it a shot.
I met the owner Paul at the Englishtown swap meet last weekend.
He was looking for some parts for his 67 GTO, and mentioned the OHC 6 car he was going to part out.
I'm hoping to be able to offer him parts equal to or better than the ones he wants to remove from this car, and then buy the car outright.
He pretty much is looking for the front nose, the dash pad and the trunk lid, all of which are in nice shape.
He can have the trunk lid & the dash pad (I have OK replacements), and I can give him rust-free front fenders, grill surrounds, an A/C core support, a GTO hood and a core GTO rear bumper & complete tail lights.
Should be almost equal to what he paid for the car! The motor was advertised on CL as having a bad rod knock, so he knows the motor is mainly just a core.
The car has some typical rust issues, mainly the right rear quarter & trunk floor, but it looks pretty decent around the windows. The floors were rusty, but I didn't have time to look under the rugs to see exactly how rusty.
The car has some body damage that didn't show up in the poor quality photos I posted, but it's a very decent project car to start with.
Worst case is that strips the parts he wants and just sells the rolling shell with the interior.
Ron

I Just stumbled on this shot of the Pontiac Display at the 66 Chicago Auto Show, and there is a 66 Sprint Lemans 2 door HT with Rally I wheels directly Behind the GTO

Point Taken Jeff, I will only post pictures I have actually Taken.

But the Old Shot I posted wasn't a Dealer or Factory Shot, it was actually taken by a Press Photographer that covered the Chicago Auto show for over 30 years. It was the only Cammer I saw among his many Photo's.

Maybee we could start anouther thread with Factory/Dealer shots.

Sorry no pic but met a nice guy at the Dixie Chapter POCI show yesterday. He had a 67 Lemans Sprint Convertible with air conditioning. I spoke to him quite a bit and he said the car was "as built". Also was loaded with options, wood wheel, remote mirror, ps, pb, automatic/console, 8 track, etc.... Color was candlelight cream with black top and interior. Under the hood was very original/correct. We figured the car had to be one of less than a hundred being a convertible/automatic/air conditioning. Cool car. Wish I had it.

PS He has other Sprints as well.

Default 65 Tempest w/ OHC

I have owned this clean Mid-West car for almost 10 years... A few subtle mods - but all with GM parts. It's a Plain Jane bench, seat 4 speed, post coupe. It may be up for sale soon. I am the 3rd owner.

Love It!

That is too funny,
I purchased my first 1966 Lemans sometime in 80-81 and it was a beater with a heater just to get me from point A to point B.
I knew nothing of Pontiac's OHC's and bought this good running '66 which turned out having a '65 215 6 in it
I ran that car for several years. This was when I lived in NJ as well.

"Beater with a Heater"... so true. It didn't even come with carpet. It has the original rubber floor mat in its place. Low option is an understatement. Thanks for the compliments : )

Thumbs up NEWPORT NEWS VA 2013 FALL CLASSIC

I've attended this show as a season finally several years now and have always been the only Cammer. This year "My Classic Car" with host Dennis Gage was on had and wouldn't you know the Cammer Gods toyed with me I was on site by 10 and parked among so many great cars & trucks and not even 6 cars away was this 1969 Firebird Hardtop OHC 6 SPRINT Are you kidding me I was on it like a fly on a...

Had a very nice conversation with the owner [who's name I forgot. Sorry] and it seems he has had this '69 since '79 and it had been in several accidents over the years but he never gave up. Kudos to him for keeping it and over coming what would have likely discouraged most of us. He said it was still a work in progress, but IMO a great looking Firebird as is.
