Default Trunk paint 67 GTO

What is the correct paint for inside trunk area? 1967 GTO

It looks like a black/speckled-white type paint.

Can one find it locally at hardware or paint store?

Or is ordering from Ames the only way?

Thumbs up

EASTWOODS Grey-White lays out real nice.
Buy more than it recommends, better to have to much then not enough.
I then use a Satin Clear to top coat.

AC Delco or Eastwood... half the cost but comes in one can.

I'm doing some 'touch-up', not the whole trunk.

But maybe the 'all-in-one-can' doesn't work very well?

And I found a DupliColor brand trunk paint locally at OReillys. (haven't purchased yet)

Hi Jeff, I see you live near Va Beach. I'm in Charlottesville. Thanks for the tip...I know Eastwood is a quality product.

Why grey/white? I thought 67 GTO was supposed to have black/aqua?

Default My understanding of trunk painting...

'64 GTO was the un-spattered year.
'65 IIRC could be either Black/White or Black/Aqua.
'66 was Black & Aqua not sure if any were sent out with Black/White spatter.
'67 most I've come across were Black/White.
FWIW (Refinished one that had signs of the OE so I matched it)
'68 I'm not sure.

Not to hijack this thread since I have a '66, but the original spatter paint in my trunk was a lighter gray with white specs. Is this what you consider "black/white"?

I used The Parts Place splatter paint. Everywhere I read it's the only one that holds up. Smells really good when spraying, smells like a candy store.

Default 67 & 68 GTO trunk paint color

Hi,
I could be wrong but I think the 66 carried a black/white spatter or splatter paint. The 67& 68 GTO trunk paint code calls for a turquoise/black spatter paint. Slightly different from the 66 GTO. I purchase my paint from the local PPG paint supply store. SEM or 3M has the proper paint code and texture.it cost $8-12 dollars only needing two cans for proper coverage. 3 cans if your going for a heavy textured look also. The product works great! Hope this helps.

Thanks. Hard to tell from the picture. Is that black/grey or black/aqua?

I think mine is also the original paint but hard to tell if the splatter is grey or aqua. I suppose it doesn't matter that much; I'm planning to sand and touch-up a few small areas.

Looked at my '67 original trunk paint today and what is left of it is black/aqua.
