1967 distributor numbers.
What distributor numbers are considered correct for a 67 GTO with a “WT” 335 H.P. & manual transmission. I have a 1111253 with a 68 date code installed and would like to replace it with a correct unit. 1111250 is the primary number listed but the restoration guide lists 1111254, 1111253 1111183 as production alternatives. Are these numbers correct or are there other numbers not listed that are?

Here is a chart from Service Manual:
The '250' would be for the WT/WS engine. The '183' I guess is an alternate, but doesn't have the high pressure distributor gear.

Thanks again John. Looks like only the 1111250 is correct.

1111183 might have been more common than we realize. For the longest time, the GTOAA didn't even list it. At that time, I had an 08D built Fremont YS. There it was staring right back at me. It was also listed in the shop manual so I simply chalked it up as an error on the club's part. How many of them might have been replaced because of this?
Now I have a numbers match 09D Pontiac YZ, and wouldn't you know it, there's another 1183. This is why legitimate survivors are invaluable. |
