Pontiac 9790071 Orange-Red?
Greetings, Ive been looking for an engine to build and swap into my '69 GTO. This came up on facebook with casting number 9790071 with 6x heads no mention of the .. but painted what looks like chevy orange-red. He has the YE code line marked on a sheet of paper, but i cant confirm that.
I realize that the block could have been repainted at some point, but could there be any differences that im missing? Just the color is throwing me off .. Is this a good canidate assuming its in fair shape? PhotosHere |

From a quick search, looks like a '68 big car 400. That's the only YE code I can find that would also have the 9790071 block casting.
As for the color, it's definitely a Pontiac engine that's been painted like a Chevy IMO.
