A car that has had that much work done on it you really want to verify the quality of the work. You don't want to have to redo that much body work.

Cool car though.

For some reason part of me still likes a Lemans more than a GTO.

I have had a lot of Pontiacs GTOs, GPs, Firebirds, etc. These days I like seeing the lesser known cars. Here is a shot of my 68 Tempest Custom.

I saw Mcronk's car at the '19 POCI show in Gettysburg and trust me pics dont do it justice. Really nice build, you ever get it on the track, Mark? Guessing it's no slouch with high ports

Not yet. Going to do some shows and cruising till the "freshness" wears off. I do "excercise" it occasionally to make sure it performs as it should. My 78 Formula is track ready!

Wow, that's really nice. Seems like a lot of car for the money.

I like both, owned both. But the first 68 I ever saw was my neighbors brand new 68 GTO Vert. Red with parchment interior and white top. Damn if that wasn't pure automotive porn.

I should also mention the neighbor on the other side had a relative that would visit from time to time who had a 67 Firebird vert in the same color combination. Those 2 cars along with my aunts 62 & 69 Bonneville verts are the reason I am still a Pontiac nut job to this day.
I guess my current ride would tend to put me in the "lesser known" category though.

Love my Lemans. Original car, original owner. Getting more special by the year as nice ones are rare. Many became GTOs. I wish I had that 350HO motor for my car. Had a 69 350HO awhile back but sold it to help fund a ‘62 Prix restoration...kinda regret that now.
Thanks for posting the one for sale, nice to see those out there.

I have a 68 Lemans 350 H/O with the PHS papers. Mine is a 3 speed manual with a factory Hurst shifter, HD Dearborn 3 speed, 3:36 Safety track...Meridian Turquoise with Ivy Gold interior...I bought it from the original owner 5 years ago...he ordered the car this way...he said he could not afford insurance on a GTO, so he ordered a Lemans H/O...because the insurance was far cheaper than a GTO, and they would have no idea if it was an H/O or not. Mine is original paint...car has 124,000 miles, engine never rebuilt...just new timing chain and gears. I put Pertronix guts in the distributor, 2.5 inch exhaust with Dynomax mufflers. It pulls about like a 350 hp GTO.

Man, that is an awesome car. My Dad (originally purchased my car new for my Mom), always loved the 350HO engine. He thought it didn't get enough credit. This year I plan on having some fun with my car and shelf the 2bbl. Add an 068 cam, 4bbl and dual exhaust. I'll keep the low compression 17 heads but maybe get them to 9.5:1 and replace the press in studs. Hoping to get closer to the output of a 350HO.
Meridian turquoise must age well. My paint is original as well. 53yrs of Turtle Wax though...
