Default How many 63 Tempest convertible survivors

Good day to all.
To all Tempest drivers. Does anyone know of how many 1963 (Tempest) 326 V8 convertibles left out of 1378 produced. I have been seeing and read about all the Trophy 4 and the Lemans Models with the V8, but not a lot of the Canadian version Tempest. I know where ever I go. Everybody that talks to me have said they have heard and seen pictures on the net. No one has ever seen one in person. I guess I do have a piece of history and time.
Thanks

I have had 2 converts and a few coupes.A ton of theses cars were wrecked in the early years.IMO,with stock suspension they are the second most dangerous car on the road behind the Corvairs. My moms boy friend rolled one back in 1963 soon after buying it and died.FWIW,Tom

Mine was built in the states. Can’t remember which plant. I will have to look at the body plate I did have it broken down when I bought the convertible. The story I was told it came from It was from Vancouver and was kept in the family till I came across it. I am curious on how many are actually still alive in Canada besides mine. There has to be others..

Hmmm. Interesting is it a convertible V8 and if it been sitting for 30 years does that count as a survivor. Would be interesting from what town as I am originally from Saskatchewan. I would classify a survivor as registered/insured and driving at least in the process of be resurrected. Just my opinion.

I know that Little Indians club secretary Gary has a V8 Tempest model convertible.

Looking at the club's database I see 8 Tempest's listed with the 326V8. But 69 other Tempest's (2 door sedan & conv) don't have an "engine" size listed. There are 6 others listed with a much larger engine size as well.

I keep trying to get the members to update their profiles and list more details about their cars, and I'll keep trying... I'll try here too.

Is your info up to date? Our LI website has a more detailed "Edit Ride" page, where you can list engine size, transmission, current condition, wheel type, paint color, etc.. check it out!

there's a two tone marimba red '63 Tempest Convert w painted bumpers on AutoTrader with a 389 tripower. No mention if it began life with it's 326 emblems. Flipper/Consignment Carlot bunch out of Cadillac Mi.

Last two running '63 converts I've seen around my area were LeMans. There's also a faded grenadier red '63 Tempest wagon that I've seen twice running around town, have yet to catch it close up.

Hello. The updated condition of my convertible is very drivable condition and very presentable from the appraisal it scored an 80 out of 100. That was even before I put new wire wheel knock offs on and rebuilt the brake system. I also had all the rear suspension redone with new bushings then went silly and powder coated all the parts including the springs. I then rebuilt the transmission so I knew what I was dealing with after the torque converter fell off backing out of my garage. Then when I had it apart I decided to rebuild the rear axle bearings. All was orders from California corvairs. I’d upload pictures of the rebuild but can’t figure that one out. Sorry.
