Black center caps were factory installed on '70 model Pontiacs equipped with Rally II wheels up into late Dec of '69. After that late Dec timeline, the red center caps began to appear. The change in the color of the centercaps followed the change on Pontiac A-body's of the 14x6 rallyII wheel code from JL to JT. The last JL's were produced 11/25/69 & coincidentally JT's began to be produced the same day.

Was the code on the rims JL or JT? I'm sure the dealerships back in the day were swapping them out at the customers request to better match the exterior color.

If youre asking me IDK,,,when I bought the car in 86 the original rims were gone but the original owner sent me a pic of the car when they bought it new. The guy actually bought it for his daughter. Black center caps in picture that was taken july of 70. I guess they could of been changed but I dought it.
