Default Aftermarket sail panel shape

I'm working on installing my sail panels but they don't seem to be correctly shaped at the front top edge where they meet the quarter window. Almost seems like there is too much cardboard in that area.

The reason I say this is because if I hold them where I think they should go, the cardboard near the bottom of the quarter window is a good 1-2" back from the tack strip, allowing the fabric to be glued down, but the cardboard sticks out too far at the top and ends up flush with the tack strip which would prevent the wind lace from attaching.

I will post a few pics later today.

Does anyone have a pic of the backside of an original 70-72 sail panel they could post?

Thanks!

Here are some pics. My finger is pointing at the cardboard that seems like it should not be there.

The location of the reinforcement area for the attachment clip is also nowhere close but that is less of a concern.

Yes, that was very helpful, thank you!

It appeared the front curve on my panels was a bit too rounded, and your pics confirmed that.

I trimmed the cardboard to better match the curve and end result is pretty good.
