Guy,
I'd try a junkyard for that cap, as for the buzzer, the contacts to activate the buzzer are in the steering column and the buzzer is inside the horn relay mounted on the firewall above and behind the master cylnder on a 69/70, 68 may be located somewhere else. Maybe another member can shed some light on that. You might have some dirty contacts inside that horn relay/buzzer. You can take the lid off that thing and spray some contact cleaner on them. Be careful no to damage the windings on the coil or its over. Put the lid back on tightly to keep out moisture. Good luck. ITO |

I fixed mine by replacing the lock cylinder and key. Due to years of use, both were worn. Prior to replacing it the buzzer would only work if you jiggled the key in the ignition. A replacement cylinder and original style key is available from our board host, Performance Years.

Hi,
My '68 GTO has the ignition switch on the dash to the right of the steering column. I found that the key was worn down and didn't activate the switch. I had a new replacement key cut and now it works fine. The Buzzer is mounted on the firewall between the master brake cylinder and the regulator. The capacitor on the regulator is for a car with an FM radio. If you have AM only, it won't be there. Mike

All cars regardless of radio choice had a capacitor.

i do know that for radio purposes, they used a condensor. usually replaced as part of a tune up. remember? points, plugs and condensor. it was for suppresing radio humming.

I believe that on 68's only the FM cars got the noise suppression.
