Default Hood to Fender Rubber Bumpers - Who's are worth a crap?

I picked some of these up from one of the usual Pontiac parts folks for my '71 Firebird and they are just junk. Wrong size, rubber is brittle, yadda yadda.

Is there any particular aftermarket maker of these that are good or perhaps these are still available from GM as they were used on lots of cars. If so, anyone have a part number.

Thanks for the help.

GM # 9799712

https://www.oldsobsolete.com/product...r-nos-9799712/

Craig Motors -Napa Gm NAPA, CA 94559 Lists as having 2 in stock. For a common part, there are not a lot of original GM specimens left.

Hard to believe that with about 2 million second gen F body’s built that there aren't a few good used examples out there.

I bought a set for my 72 GTO, complete junk. I broke one just trying to get it in... My originals were not so bad, so I put them back in. They are 50 years and still in one piece.

Most rubber aftermarket parts are junk. Sad really for the price they sell.

No wonder why most people are looking for NOS stuff...

Hm. I just installed some from our host like 2 mo ago and other than not being the exact shape/size, worked well. Think they were Metro?

I spray them with silicone and they go right in.

Metro and Steele should be fine. Were the ones you got branded or were they no-name?

There lies the problem. Most restorers will not accept anything less than exact, and really, there are no excuses for a part like that not to be exact.
