WOOHOO! My previously manual drum brake 70 GTO now has functional power discs! but theres one little hiccup as there always is for me: I got this disc kit off ebay and had never seen a master cylinder like this one before. It is wider that the oval ones ive seen before. Anyone know what it is off originally? Problem is it seems to leak out the lid on the back and I may need to replace the lid gasket. Kinda odd because it was a rebuilt unit. Anyone have any ideas or advise to stop reservoir lid leaks?

(Notice I switched to a 71 style one piece prop valve and lines because new valves were readily available, Just had to get the frame bracket off a 71 A-Body. worked out nicely )

I will guess the master cylinder is from a Corvette 4 wheel disk.

65% confidence level.

ooh, 4 wheel disk. Hope not. Or if it is I hope it works the same. I like the way it looks and I dont feel like rebleeding the whole dang system. Not too far from getting it running, guess I'll find out then.

Yeah,

My confidence level is low on that one, so before doing anything drastic get confirmation from someone else!

I just installed a brake kit from Stainless Steel Brakes. I was told the MC I have is the same as a Corvette.

It is shorter (height wise) and wider than other MC's I've seen. Looks a lot like the one pictured, but it has 4 available connections, 2 on each side.

Since I just had 2, they supplied fittings to block the unused ports.

What a PIA is was to bleed that thing.....

If a crack in the earth is a fault, shouldn't the crack in your butt be called an assfault?

Yeah I noticed it looked like ones that came from aftermarket places, I figure it should work since the proportioning gets done thru the valve. All the lines bolted right up. Just going thru my wiring harness now getting ready to run the juice thru the beast and test those brakes.

It's the same one used on the Z28's with manual disks!
That is how I got my manual Disks working on my race car! Real resonable at Advance Auto.

Usually I'm found working on my Pontiac. If you want to find me Look for the white picket fence and all the old Pontiacs parked outside. And the half dissembled engine sprawled all over the driveway!
