Clutch Cross Shaft
I'm converting my '75 from auto trans to stick. I have the clutch cross shaft assembly off a junkyard donor car.
Does the bracket that holds the outboard end of the shaft bolt to the outside of the front subframe? I've been looking for the 3 bolt holes and I'm not seeing them. Maybe the auto cars didn't have the holes drilled in the frame? Any thoughts or pictures would be a huge help. Thanks, Eric

Been awhile since Ive seen this but yes the bracket bolts to the side of the frame, not sure on 75's but the 77-78 cars I have seen or own has the 3 holes in the frame... I recall the screws are a self tapping type so there arent pre threaded holes or a nut welded on the back, but the holes should be there or worst case can be drilled.
I can check my files for pics when I restored my 78 if someone else doesnt post any. |

Found some pics of the bracket, looks like they are all the short self tapping type bolts. I can check my auto trans 72 & 81 to see if the holes are there too.

Your pix are a huge help. Now I know where to look. The screws that are with the old bracket are clearly self tapping. If holes don't exist, I'm hoping there's at least dimples where they are supposed to go. I found dimples in the firewall where the holes had to be drilled for the pushrod boot to screw on.

My frame on my 77 had dimples, no holes, when I converted my car to manual. I drilled and tapped

I found the 3 dimples. It helped knowing where to look. Thanks for the help!

Update: had to loosen the bottom of the outer fender and remove the inner fender to get access. Surprise....there were holes in the frame, not dimples. Self tapping screws went right in! Snaking the cross shaft thru the headers was a PITA (see attached picture) but it's in now!
