curios what is it worth
I have a 59 389 and unknown year 4 sp auto that came out of a 56 safari I bought in the late 80"s, got it to run but not well before pulling it out, what would be a fair price for this combo?

My buddy had a 59 389 w/hydramatic, we sold all of it for $300. It took quite a while to sell.

Try to sell it locally for whatever you are offered. It's not worth shipping. If it were mine I would give it to anyone that was actually going to use it.

I sold a complete 280 hp 2-barrel 1959 389 and matching 4-speed automatic for $600 several years back. It was scrubbed clean on the outside and the intake, valley pan and oil pan were removed for cleaning as well. I threw in a bare 1959 Tri-Power intake and thermostat housing in the deal as well.
Finding the person that’s in need isn’t easy, in this case the buyer had a 1955 car that he wanted a bigger engine for that would be basically a bolt in and the ‘59 389 was exactly that.
