Tough crowd.

Thought I might get some help from other interested Firebird owners that could point out things I might have missed. I have a soft spot for the 76 model and have owned 3 of them. This one has some issues and its priced too high IMHO but its a good looking driver.

Nice looking car overall. I would rate it as a -3. Lots of stuff wrong. But if youre looking for a good knock around car its fine. Wrong wheels, int. is 'care worn'. Lots of little rust spots (doesnt look serious, more like lack of maintenance), engine bay is a mess. Cars on the net with the right lighting always look about 15% nicer than what they actually are. There are a couple of shots and the paint looks kinda cloudy, I would bet it looks slightly worse in person. Back bumper cover is cracked, but dont they all?
No idea what cars sell for but judging by asking prices I think 25k-30k would be a reasonable ask.
I would want to drive it around a little bit first of course to make sure the drive train is fine.

Looks pretty good from here...are the 76's supposed to have rally IIs and would the SE be a tribute on a '76?

The could have Honeycomb or Rally II.
The 50th Edition TA had gold trim on black. But this isn't a 50th ED.
(I don't think)


Looks nice, don't know if it's worth the price though.

Thanks!! I had many of the same observations though I think I missed a few things you mentioned. I've bought lots of Pontiacs that needed some TLC lol and I tried to buy two "finished" Pontiacs that I could just drive only to find out they ALSO needed some TLC. The engine bay mess was a definite turn off but lord knows I have lots of expertise in that area.

Yes, wheels are absolutely incorrect. Snowflakes didn't start till the 77 model year. Most 76s just came with 15x7 Rally IIs. I think the Honeycombs were an option that year, so you see them on some cars. Rally IIs were often painted to match body color which I've never cared for but some people like it.

There was no special edition in 1976. That didn't start till 77 but Pontiac did offer what is effectively the same special edition black and gold paint scheme with all the extra striping in 1976 as the 50th Anniversary Trans Am or the "Limited Edition".

Since the 455 HO went away after the 75 model year, the 50th Anniv cars are the rarest and most desirable 76s for most people. They offered it with both a manual and an automatic, either the 400 or 455 and both with or without T-Tops. As you might expect the lowest production number of the run was the 455 4-speed with T-Tops (Code Y82). They only made 110 of those. Next would be the 455 4-speed with no T-Tops (Code Y81). They only made 319 of those.

Because of this you see a LOT of tribute "SE" 76s just like all the later years from 77-81.

Correct, although I think you may have had a mis-type. 1976 was the 50th anniversary of the Pontiac not the trans am.

I saw one of those 76 LE's at a carwash last year but didn't realize how rare it was...thought it was strange that he kept it running while he was washing it tho lol

Nah I just call them 50th Anniversary Trans Ams lol. The car was definitely released to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Pontiac.

Upper dash looks spray painted and rust pitted. Spray painted wrong exhaust tips. Looks nice... I'm guessing its a polished turd.
