Front windshield trim clips
Hi, car is a 66 Gto HT, i took my front winshield trim off, i see the sides are screw in clips can these be taken out with the w/s in place. Doesnt seem like i could ge a screwdriver in there.
Also i noticed im missing one clip on the top, just the stud there, but noticed a few are somewhat loose, is there a trick of pulling these off the stud, mine seem to be stuck on the stud. Just wanted to replace these clips, they are not looking all that good. Did a search on these clips..........seems that they are not all that great. Thanks Rich |

Pfilean, thanks for the info............finally figured how to get them out of the stud, just yank on them, seems mine were glued in some...........anyways seems i have the same clips on the top as ames sells 134A..............seems the bottoms are different then the top, will check with ames on that one. Anyone else run into this.

Just checked with Ames, they only sell the ones like i have by the stick..............not sure whats on the bottom of the windshield, one other interesting thing in the pic are the plastic clips on the inside of the trim.............would these be original, the guy from ames said he didnt know what they were................thinking of just replacing the top clips, and leave the bottom alone.

My understanding is the plastic inserts are to keep the metal reveal trim from contacting the glass to prevent noise and damage.

Correct. About 5 years ago, I saw these molded in blue selling on eBay I don't see them anymore.

Thanks guys on the info about the plastic inserts.........surprised ames doesnt sell them with the repo trim. I anyone knows where to grab these things or has some laying around let me know.............think im missing a couple, on the piller trim one has 3 the other has two.
Just a little side note, the parts with the plastic inserts is what i pulled off my car, not sure if original trim or not..................i bought some trim from facebook that the guy swore up and down it was original, seems it looks alot different then what i have.................another lesson learned the hard way.........lol Rich |

IIRC the plastic inserts were installed only at the joints.

Interesting.............i took off 15 of them on my old stuff, i marked where they all went on, im gonna throw them back on when i get my trim back from the buffing place.
For how thin these pcs are, i suppose you could just glue some small pcs of plastic in the trim. Thanks for the help guys Rich |
