What would set it off now, would be a new vinyl roof.

Why did it have a vinyl top on it to begin with ? I don’t see anywhere on the Phs where it lists Cordova top.

I looked again at pics. You may be on to something. Factory vinyl tops were straight on bottom edge. That one has a slight curve to it, matching 1/4 panel contour.

I attached pic of my original top. Compare bottom edge.

I'm thinking that vinyl top cars got a letter code for color....on the cowl tag.....

I have another non-scientific observation;
The only place in Canada that I have observed VN cars is the lower mainland of BC;
The only place in the USA that I have observed VN cars is California, Oregon, and Washington.
I've NEVER documented a 70-71 VN bird that was sold new in Canada....

Prove me wrong...

It’s not my car, it’s my buddies car. He texted me to tell me he might be selling it, and to see if I wanted to buy it.

I personally wouldn’t have stripped the paint off. I would probably just have put a new vinyl top on, as the old one was lifting off and separating.

24 24 means it came from factory painted Adriatic blue top and bottom. No rubber roof.

That's such a cool color. I wish it was closer. I'd definitely be a buyer on the car. My last long distance purchase was British Columbia (from New Jersey). That almost drove me to ruin with NJ motor vehicle refusing the title the "foreign" car. Ugh! But it turned out OK in the end.

At least your car is in America, still. :-)

BUt... It will most likely travel through Canada to get back to the lower 48.. Which means it would have to be titled and registered to a US citizen before its on Canadian roads, open or enclosed trailer , to make things go smoothly with NO border type issues.
It's a Formy Adrian......

OMG. That's insane! So a purchaser would have to fly up there, hang out a few days, register the car at the local DMV there as a non-resident, before it could be loaded on a trailer to travel across Canada to the US?

No, titled and registered in your state ( if thats possible in NJ)
Cars owned by Americans free and clear travel much better than a "sale" and in between owners, etc. Of Course Canada would try for some more fees, etc and tie the car up for a week with ownership crap. Need 4 forms filled out ahead of time, or a broker, and 4 forms. If you own it, and the driver has proof, its soo much easier. I have the forms if you want .. This would be a great project for you Steve.
Here is where it was ordered.

What are they asking for this car? I'm sure if posted in the "for sale" section, it would get interest. Very cool car!

Would be much simpler to ship it to someone in Washington State, like, ME!

Then I can come get it from you in Washington! :-)

The real deal killer is the transportation costs of getting a car like that from Alaska to the east coast in one piece.

I am still actively lusting after it...and I need a project. My wrenching hands are getting itchy again.

You have "The Lust". I totally understand!
I would like to fly up and inspect it in person before pulling the trigger. If it's nice enough, my plan would not be to blow it apart for a full restoration. I would of course repair all necessary mechanicals, but the cosmetics I'd likely just "fluff" to try to maintain as much originality as possible.
Of course there's already my '71 TA that needs finished. So many great cars and so little time to do 'em!

The whole aftermarket vinyl top install, recent removal, and roof now in primer makes that notion pretty damn challenging. Patina is great, but this has moved past that point IMO. Neat car and great project for someone with lots of money, time, and a willingness to tackle the unknown.

Yes, the vinyl top app is a mystery to me. Why was it done? Maybe to hide wavy sheetmetal? That certainly could have a significant impact on how best to proceed with the project. Perhaps I missed a post, but do we know more about the vinyl top thing, like who installed it and how long ago?
