Another way to tell a 455 vs 400 in 1970 is the 12 bolt rear is there....

Anyway, hoping for the best for you.
Either way sounds like a nice car.

PICS are required also.

They keep saying it's a 455HO because that's what Pontiac called it.

Don't confuse people - that PHS is to your car.

The thought crossed my mind, that & Jim Mattison's cel number could have made for an interesting morning here - but that would be a 1st class dirtbag move!

if its a 67 model year 400 , it wont bolt up to the mounts of a 455 which you need to mate with the frame mounts of an orig 455 car. good luck with the purchase.

Hope you left a good non negotiable deposit, I think for the price the PHS would only be a bonus, meaning the car looks like an awesome project either way. I don't know you or the car and this is stressing me out,,,,LOL gle: Good Luck

to be honest if I were him, and the PHS came back with good news, I think I might wait until the car was in my garage to confirm the great news. I hope that is what's happening but might be just the opposite.

i might be wrong, but many years ago i had an orbit orange 70 judge with the 455ho and i dont think it mentioned it on the phs (this was many years before phs was in business and i would call a guy i met that worked at pontiac and he would send them to me). i dont think it was an extra cost option over the ra3. it seems like you had to have the build sheet to tell (other than the 12 bolt rear etc..) i may be wrong on this, but it seemed like the 455 cars used a different auto trans than the ra3 did. not sure on this however. i looked for the phs on it, but it was so many years ago i dont remember the vin and i have owned several orbit judges and none i saw showed the 455ho not to mention that large amount of invoice copies that i have i couldnt find anything.

You are correct on the 70 Judge...If drivetrain is gone and no other clues. Then, you need buildsheet to verify if its a 455 with AT.
