I agree. I think the lighting made the color pop. Plus the owner may have tweaked the paint formula.

there are more pictures of the same car here

http://www.highperformancepontiac.co...dyno_shootout/

showing a color more typical of Palisade.

Is that the original paint? Saw it at the Tiger Run and it looked like the whole paint job was hit with a fine steel wool or scorch bright.

Here is my barnfind (actually a parking garage find). In 1988 I found this 70 Judge by word of mouth. The original owner bought it six months after buying a 69 Judge new (he totaled the 69).

He was a janitor of a low rent apartment complex. When he bought it he had it painted a purple glastron speed boat super metal flake kind of paint and had the interior covered in purple shag carpet (doors, seats, dash headliner the works).

He put about 50k miles on it summer only in 3 years then parked it. By 1975 he realized he had made a mistake and shipped it to a body shop who repainted it its correct Cardinal Red. Luckily he had no mechanical interest so the rest of the car was virgin and the shag carpet was only installed with two sided tape. The only mod was the 71 GTO mirrors.

When he parked got it back from the body shop in 75 (it still had 73 tags and registration on it) he built a cinderblock wall around the car to keep the welfare types away from it and covered it in layers and layers of blankets. It had a steel plate door with a chain and padlock to keep it safe.

I couldnt cut a deal with him and several tries over the years also failed. but in 2001 the apartment building next door burned down and a subsequent fire inspection led to the fireman ordering him to demo his fortress in the parking garage.

He called me and I cut a deal with him (we had to take down a wall ourselves since there was only a man door).

Basically all I did to get it looking like in the photos was to wash it, add the missing Judge stripes, put some fresh black radials on her, replace the crumbling RA foam and give her a lube and oil.

The condition was quite incredible, the interior was literally like new down to the carpet. The body was impeccable with zero rust and zero even door dings under the paint. The undercarriage was beautiful with that rust free low mileage california look.

It still had the original sparkplug wires, hoses and belts, exhaust system. The radio cap was still in the distributor and there was even an ink pick stamp still visible on the carb.

Not being a 70 guy and not being an automatic trans in a muscle car guy I sold it on eBay and for the first (and I'm sure the only) time I actually made money on a car. The last photo is of it going on the trailer, I sold it to a guy in Connecticut and I hear he still has it.

Funny thing is he was always a 69 guy as well. He told me that he never liked the look of this car compared to his 69. He showed me photos of it before and after the wreck. It was a CR with a parchment interior and automatic. He wrapped it around a telephone pole.

Have any of you perhaps seen it? It had power windows, woodwheel, tinted glass all around, gauges, Safe t track. It was sold here in Montreal but curiously it was built in Pontiac not Oshawa.

If it had had a 4speed I'd probably still have it.

actually now that I think of it it was an Oshawa car. I remember it had glue holding down the trunkmat and there was no caulking on the door skin seams, wasn't that an Oshawa thing?
