Default Engine cradle

Anyone ever use one for an OHC 6, as opposed to an engine stand? They seem stable and useful, as long as you're not actually working on the motor. I've also seen where a guy used one as a test stand with a few modifications.

Sorry, I should have said that I'm looking for one. That's why I posted here.

Thanks

I have my new motor sitting on one right now I had a friend of mine weld it up and used it for the trip home from Paul spotts if you have someone who can weld its not a big project. I don't think anyone is selling them premade

Any chance of getting a picture? Also, do you think I can modify a V8 cradle?
Thanks,
Chris

I don't think a v8 cradle is long enuf mine is basically some rectangular tubing with casters on the bottom and some pads to attach to the motor mount bosses on the block the rear of the block rests on the back of the cradle. If I made another one the only thing I would change is to make the back with more clearance so I could bolt up the flywheel and bellhousing while on the stand. Here are some pics

That's slick! I see what you mean about getting room to install a flexplate or flywheel.

(and people tell me I have too much red on my engine =P )

GW,
That looks good if you raised the side mounts and added some type of front support that could be used to run an engine on.
You should make a few up and sell them.

The early carts Pontiac used were similar in as far as the lower frame with casters,
the supports were just heavy gauge steel legs that rested on the oil pan flange area.

I use furniture dolly's with wood blocking just to move them around easily.

When we put this together all I wanted was something to bring tw engine home from Paul's about 300 miles so I am happy with it as is if I do another one I would make some changes I don't know if it would be worth it to make them to sell what would people be willing to pay?

Thanks for posting the pics. I saw an engine cradle for a Chevy 6. But it bolted to the front of the block. I do have a good, cheap welder guy right over the bridge from me, but he's your typical maniac that's kind of a PITA to deal with. I like off the shelf. Anyway, I don't have a car, so I would like to get a motor running on a stand until I do.
